Rising steadily along NH-30 approximately 45 km northwest of Kawardha, Chilfi Ghati is a spectacular mountain roadway that traverses the pristine heart of the Maikal range. Famous for its dramatic hair-pin bends, thick sal and bamboo reserves, and cooler highland temperatures, the valley is often shrouded in morning mist even during warmer months.

The road winds through dense forest corridors that form part of the wildlife corridor between Kanha National Park and Achanakmar Tiger Reserve.
