Bhoramdeo Cooperative Sugar Mill at Ramhepur, Kawardha has achieved national distinction, receiving the Highest Sugar Recovery Award for two consecutive seasons in New Delhi, directly honoring over 14,800 local sugarcane farmers.

In a historic milestone for Kabirdham district's agrarian economy, the Bhoramdeo Cooperative Sugar Mill (भोरमदेव सहकारी शक्कर उत्पादक कारखाना मर्यादित), located at Ramhepur near Kawardha, has been conferred with the prestigious National Sugar Factory Efficiency Award in New Delhi. The honor was presented under the 'Highest Sugar Recovery – Other Area' category during the national convention organized by the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF) at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Centre.

Key Achievement: National Efficiency Award for Highest Sugar Recovery (2 Consecutive Years)
Presented By: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari & MoS Krishan Pal Gurjar
State Delegation: Cooperation Minister Kedar Kashyap & Kabirdham District Administration
Location: Ramhepur, Kawardha, Kabirdham District, Chhattisgarh
Farmer Impact: Direct benefit for 14,853 registered member sugarcane growers

1. National Distinction at New Delhi Conclave

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari presented the trophy and citation to the managing delegation of the mill. This marks a landmark milestone, making Bhoramdeo the only cooperative sugar processing unit from Chhattisgarh to secure this national efficiency distinction for two consecutive crushing seasons.

2. Technical Efficiency & Sugarcane Quality in Kabirdham

The 'Other Recovery Area' classification evaluates cooperative processing units located in regions where average sugar recovery historically averages below 10 percent. Through disciplined harvesting schedules, modern boiler optimization, and the adoption of high-recovery early-maturing cane varieties (Co-0238 and Co-86032) by local farmers, the Ramhepur plant consistently surpassed regional benchmarks.

  • Crushing Performance: Seamless factory operation with minimal downtime during peak crushing cycles.
  • Harvest-to-Crush Window: Streamlined transport logistics reducing juice inversion between the fields and the milling tandem.
  • By-Product Utilization: Bagasse-based co-generation supplying clean captive power during crushing operations.

3. Direct Benefits for 14,850+ Registered Cane Growers

The success of the cooperative model directly benefits the agrarian backbone of Kabirdham. Over 14,853 registered member farmers supply their produce across Kawardha, Bodla, and Sahaspur Lohara blocks.

In addition to state bonus support under the Krishi Unnati Yojana, the mill administration distributed subsidized sugar quotas of 50 kg per member farmer, ensuring tangible household benefits alongside prompt cane payments.

4. First PPP-Model Ethanol Plant Synergies

Bhoramdeo mill also anchors Chhattisgarh’s first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) ethanol distillery. The integrated setup converts surplus molasses into fuel-grade ethanol, diversifying the cooperative’s revenue streams, curbing financial distress during sugar market fluctuations, and guaranteeing consistent clearing of farmer dues.

Administrative oversight by the District Collectorate and dedicated technical staff at Ramhepur has transformed the facility into an agro-industrial flagship for Chhattisgarh.
