In what is set to be one of the largest and most unique religious congregations in Chhattisgarh, village Newariguda in the Kawardha block of Kabirdham district is preparing to enshrine 117 sacred deities and divine tableaux under a single expansive festival complex for Shardiya Navratri 2026 (October 11 to October 20, 2026).

Organized under the patronship of Pramod Chauhan and executed collectively by the Nav Yuvak Durgotsav Samiti alongside the residents of Newariguda, Dullahpur, and Karimati, this massive community-driven installation celebrates both classical Vedic traditions and the rich indigenous folk heritage of Chhattisgarh.

The Evolution: From 51 Shaktipeeths to 117 Deities

During last year's Navratri celebrations, Newariguda gained widespread regional prominence by constructing a walk-through diorama complex of all 51 Shaktipeeths, drawing tens of thousands of pilgrims from across Kawardha, Raipur, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, and neighboring Madhya Pradesh.

Building on that overwhelming community response, the organizing committee has expanded the scale more than twofold this year, consecrating 117 distinct sacred representations.

The 117 Deities & Sacred Tableaux: Detailed Breakdown

The vast covered pavilion is structured into distinct thematic zones, allowing devotees to take a comprehensive spiritual pilgrimage under one roof:

  • 51 Shaktipeeth Shrines: Dedicated dioramas representing all 51 sacred Shakti shrines across the Indian subcontinent, each reflecting its specific mythological iconography and regional sanctum style.
  • Navdurga Sanctum: The nine consecrated forms of Goddess Durga, from Shailputri to Siddhidatri, worshipped daily with traditional Vedic rituals and evening aartis.
  • Charo Dham Tableaux: Replicas of the four cardinal pilgrimage destinations—Badrinath, Jagannath Puri, Rameshwaram, and Dwarka.
  • Dashavatara of Lord Vishnu: The 10 avatars of Lord Vishnu depicting Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha, and Kalki.
  • Ayodhya Ram Lalla Replica: A special central tableau recreating the sanctum of the Ram Janmabhoomi temple.
  • Chhattisgarh Cultural & Folk Heritage Pavilion: A dedicated pavilion enshrining Chhattisgarh Mahtari alongside 36 traditional regional folk deities of Chhattisgarh, honoring the state's deep-rooted agrarian and rural spiritual roots.
